About us 

Legal Aid NSW helps people with their legal problems. We can help people with most areas criminal law, family law and every day civil law legal issues. We give legal advice, help at court and do family dispute resolution. We can do this over the telephone or at one of our 28 offices. 


About DVU & FamAC 

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Office Manager to join our team. One role will support the Domestic Violence Unit (DVU) and the other role will support Family Law Service for Aboriginal Communities (FamAC). 

 

Domestic Violence Unit (DVU) is a state-wide specialist team comprising lawyers, case workers, mental health workers, and financial counsellors. DVU team work collaboratively to assist clients who have experienced domestic and family violence, addressing their legal and other needs. 

 

Family Law Service for Aboriginal Communities (FamAC) is an Aboriginal-led service dedicated to supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and children in family law and care & protection matters. FamAC team provides advice, early intervention support, outreach, and casework litigation to families and children currently involved in or at risk of being involved in family or care & protection proceedings. 

 

About the Roles

Reporting directly to the Solicitor in Charge, you will play a vital role in driving the operational success of your team. Your key responsibility will be to ensure the smooth delivery of client services while managing daily office operations and facilitating seamless interactions with clients. 

 

We may use this recruitment to create a talent pool for similar ongoing or temporary vacancies we have over the next 18 months.  

 

About You 

You’re a natural leader with experience in managing small and medium sized specialist teams and overseeing office operations. With a proven track record in a similar role, you’re eager to bring your expertise to an autonomous position that offers variety and challenge.  

 

Your excellent communication skill both written and verbal, allow you to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, delivering exceptional customer service at every opportunity. 

 

Your attention to detail and creative problem-solving mindset empowers you to identify innovative ways to improve office processes, increase efficiency, and elevate the client experience.

 The essential requirements for this role 
 

 You must: 

  • Be willing to do a Criminal Record Check and a Working with Children Check 
  • Hold Australian or NZ citizenship, Australian Permanent Residency (for ongoing vacancies) or a valid visa to work in Australia (for temporary vacancies) 


The Family Law Division have a number of roles where it is a statutory obligation for staff to hold a valid Working With Children Check. You will be required to provide your Working With Children Check details prior to commencement in any role requiring the check.
