About us
Legal Aid NSW helps people with their legal problems. We can help people with most areas within criminal law, family law and every day civil law legal issues. We give legal advice, help at court and do family dispute resolution. We can do this over the telephone or at one of our 28 offices.
About the role
The Senior Internal Auditor provides a high level of internal audit consultancy and advisory services for Legal Aid NSW. The Senior Internal Auditor may undertake reviews and risk assessments in accordance with applicable procedures and standards. The role advises and supports the Chief Audit Executive and the Audit and Risk Committee to ensure the effectiveness and appropriateness of internal audit, internal controls, risk management and compliance and governance.
About you
You will have a proven track record in internal audit management and strong leadership capabilities to drive effective risk mitigation outcomes. Your role will involve overseeing external auditors and conducting external reviews. You will possess a flexible, solutions-oriented approach, able to navigate shifting and competing priorities while staying focused and meeting deadlines.
As an enthusiastic self-starter, you will demonstrate a keen attention to detail and the ability to work autonomously. Your strong interpersonal skills, along with advanced report writing and presentation abilities, will enable you to effectively influence and communicate with stakeholders at all levels of seniority.
We may use this recruitment to create a talent pool for similar ongoing or temporary vacancies we have over the next 18 months.

The essential requirements for this role
You must:
- professional accreditation as a CPA or Auditor
- be willing to do a Criminal Record Check
- hold Australian or NZ citizenship, Australian Permanent Residency (for ongoing vacancies) or a valid visa to work in Australia (for temporary vacancies)
Highly desirable
- have 5+ years of experience in relevant industry
