Legal Aid NSW helps people with their legal problems. We can help people with most areas criminal law, family law and every day civil law legal issues. We give legal advice, help at court and do family dispute resolution. We can do this over the telephone or at one of our 28 offices.

 

About the role

 

This role is to provide education and support to the Agency on a range of work health and safety initiatives. The Work Health and Safety Advisor will also manage, coordinate, and drive the recover at work process for injury management activities on both workers compensation and non-workers compensation Legal Aid NSW health matters. Through quality assurance and case file reviews, the WHS Advisor will ensure health matters are managed in a durable, safe, and best practice manner for all involved.

 

About you

 

Our ideal candidate for this role will demonstrate knowledge and understanding of current NSW Work Health and Safety legislation; NSW workers compensation legislation and best practice non workers compensation health/injury management and support.

 

Additionally, it is desirable for the successful candidate to be a member of the Australian Society of Rehabilitation Counsellors (ASORC), Australian Rehabilitation Providers Association (ARPA) or equivalent.

 

Throughout your career you have demonstrated commitment to the Recovery at Work program/process; will leverage your strong interpersonal skills and have a genuine interest in working with injured workers to establish favourable outcomes for all parties; knowledge and expertise in creating and maintain safe workplaces.

 

We may use this recruitment to create a talent pool for similar ongoing or temporary vacancies we have over the next 18 months.

The essential requirements for this role

 

You must:

 

  • relevant tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent experience in Human Resources
  • be willing to do a Criminal Record Check
  • hold Australian or NZ citizenship, Australian Permanent Residency (for ongoing vacancies) or a valid visa to work in Australia (for temporary vacancies)
  • reside/willing to relocate to NSW
  • return to work coordinator trained is preferable but training can be provided
