Grade 1-4 - $70,694 – $113,746pa plus employers contribution to superannuation

The LINKS Trauma Healing Service as part of the Department of Communities and Justice, Psychological & Specialist Services are responsible for delivering multidisciplinary, trauma informed, evidence based assessment and interventions for children, young people and families ensuring they have the best possible outcomes.

 

Your role

The Speech Pathologist will be part of the LINKS team located in the Illawarra. Employing an evidence-based multi-disciplinary approach, the service will seek to decrease trauma symptoms and improve the well-being of a cohort of children/young people living in out of home care. The service takes a holistic approach to achieve this, focussing on the psychosocial and developmental needs of a young person, as well as recognising the needs of the family and system around the child.

The Speech Pathologist will conduct assessments, consultation, therapeutic interventions and professional services. They will do this within a multidisciplinary team, who collaborate to effectively support children and young people, their families and carers.
 

 

What you’ll do

 

  • Provide speech pathology supports including screening, assessment, program development and intervention monitoring/review in the areas of communication and swallowing in line with relevant legislative, professional and ethical requirements.
  • Manage a caseload of children and young people who have experienced abuse and maltreatment and measure the outcome of intervention strategies to ensure appropriate support is provided and positive outcomes are achieved. This includes collaboration with a young person’s carers/family.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with public sector agencies, non-government organisations and community groups to facilitate a person-centred approach in developing and delivering intervention programs.
  • Have strong interpersonal skills to effectively work within a multidisciplinary team, to foster collaborative practice and contribute to a positive team culture to enable the best outcomes for young people and families.
  • Maintain accurate files and records in compliance with relevant policies, procedures and professional requirements.
  • Participate in professional supervision and relevant development activities to ensure good practice standards in providing speech pathology support to children and young people with communication and/or swallowing support needs.
  • Contribute to quality assurance activities to ensure good practice standards of speech pathology supports are provided and maintained.

 

What we’re looking for

 

  • Tertiary qualifications in Speech Pathology with demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia.
  • Strengths including a ‘can-do’ attitude and being highly motivated.
  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Current driver’s licence and willingness to drive.

 

New graduates or students nearing completion of their degree are encouraged to apply.
