Position Type: Ongoing Permanent, Part-Time (2 days: 15 hours per week)

Salary: Clerk Grade 9/10: $120,859 - $133,183 pa + superannuation + annual leave loading pro rata

Your role

 

The Senior Media Liaison Officer, reporting to the Corrective Services NSW (CSNSW) Media Manager, independently manages complex media relations and stakeholder communications. This includes responding to media inquiries, promoting positive media coverage, and acting as a departmental spokesperson. The role also involves overseeing events, press conferences, monitoring media coverage, and providing strategic media advice.

 

What you’ll do

 

  • Reporting to the CSNSW Media Manager, the role of the Senior Media Liaison Officer is to independently manage stakeholders and complex and sensitive media and communications on behalf of CSNSW.
  • You will manage and compose responses to media enquiries, and work to encourage positive and informed coverage of CSNSW in the media. 
  • It is expected that you will act as a departmental spokesperson when dealing with the media.
  • You’ll oversee events, press conferences and announcements; monitor media coverage, and provide strategic advice about media issues.

 

What we’re looking for

 

  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills including attention to detail and proofreading skills.
  • Excellent critical thinking capacity and the ability to exercise judgement and solve problems quickly and effectively.
  • Demonstrated capacity to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.
  • Experience working in a small team and contributing to a team approach to problem solving.
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or another relevant field.

 

Essential Requirements

 

  • A current driver’s licence and preparedness to drive a vehicle, in the course of performing the role.
  • Be prepared to travel for up to a few days a month and to visit the Correctional Centres
