About the role
Are you passionate about building community resilience and supporting disaster recovery efforts? The NSW Reconstruction Authority is seeking a proactive and community-minded Project Officer – Community Engagement to help deliver the Northern Rivers Disaster Adaptation Plan.
In this role, you’ll support the design and delivery of community engagement activities that empower local communities to prepare for and adapt to natural hazards and climate change. You’ll work closely with project teams, stakeholders, and community members to ensure engagement is inclusive, relevant, and impactful.

Coordinate and implement community engagement initiatives, events and activities aligned with disaster adaptation and resilience goals.

Develop communication materials and engagement tools tailored to diverse community needs.

Prepare reports and briefs, coordinate resources, maintain project documentation and implement and monitor customer interactions.

Communicate with key internal and external stakeholders and support working groups, committees and consultations.

Source, collate and compile data and information to identify emerging issues and track and report on project progress.

Translate complex or technical information into accessible, community-friendly formats.

About you
High calibre candidates will hold tertiary qualifications and/or relevant knowledge and experience. They will have significant experience in delivering high quality customer service to communities with a trauma-informed approach and coordination in a dynamic and politically sensitive environment.
Essential Requirements

Strong attention to detail and can work confidently and collaboratively with a broad range of stakeholders.

Ability to work autonomously in coordinating work and making decisions on matters under their direct control.

Must have resilience, integrity and customer service orientation.

An ability and willingness to travel within NSW and support other operational roles during disasters, emergencies and other events, consistent with skills, background and personal circumstances.
About the Agency
The NSW Reconstruction Authority is a statutory corporation that will improve how NSW plans for disasters and ensure that we recover from them faster.
To reduce the severity and impacts of disasters, the NSW Reconstruction Authority will complete critical planning and preparation with communities, businesses and government. When disaster does strike, we will get recovery started swiftly and coordinate reconstruction efforts across agencies, communities and other stakeholders.
