Senior Project Officer - Natural Hazard Risk

Exciting opportunity to support NSW Communities through natural hazard risk reduction plans.

Temporary full-time opportunity until 30 June 2026.

Role based in Lismore/Northern Rivers, with hybrid working environment.

Clerk Grade 9/10, Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $125,693 to $138,510 + super.
About the role
The Senior Project Officer will support the delivery of a regionally scaled risk assessment and analysis of risk reduction options, to inform the development of the Northern Rivers Disaster Adaptation Plan (DAP). Key activities they will work on include:

research and analysis of natural hazard and exposure information for the Northern Rivers, including existing policies, plans and strategies to address hazard risks

supporting the development and review of the qualitative and quantitative risk assessment for the Northern Rivers DAP
-
research and preparation of written hazard exposure and risk information , to inform key stages of the NR DAP and associated reports and outputs
-
the prioritisation and analysis of risk reduction strategies and actions for inclusion in the NR DAP and associated reports and outputs
-
consultation activities with subject matters experts, agencies and councils to support the preparation of the Northern Rivers DAP.
What we’re looking for
High calibre candidates will have strong experience in:
-
Environmental or natural hazard risk management, including the development of strategic plans, strategies or actions to mitigate risks
-
Researching and analysing information, including spatial data, relating to environmental or natural hazard risk management
-
The preparation of high quality, well researched reports and other written material
-
Ability to work in a fast-paced and complex government environment
-
Strong communications skills who can interact with internal and external stakeholders
-
Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities and tasks.
-
High level of autonomy and is accountable for the delivery of work assignments and projects on time, and to expectations in terms of quality, deliverables and outcomes.

Acts independently to determine day-to-day priorities, negotiate matters related to area of responsibility and makes decisions in relation to the quality of work outcomes.
