    • Psychologist: $83,898 – $118,316pa.
    • Specialist Psychologist: $114,016 - $139,824pa
    • Plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

Corrective Services NSW (CSNSW) delivers professional correctional services and programs to reduce the risk of re-offending and enhance public safety. It serves a key function of the NSW Communities and Justice Sector by providing effective, safe and humane management of offenders both in custody and in the community CSNSW also works in partnership with other government and community agencies to ensure that offenders and their families are supported.
 

Lithgow Correctional Centre is a maximum-security facility for males located 152km west of Sydney in the Blue Mountains. The centre is in Marrangaroo, which is seven kilometres west of Lithgow on the Great Western Highway. Lithgow is one hour and 15 minutes from Penrith CBD and 40 minutes from Bathurst. Rental accommodation is available and affordable and property prices are in line with NSW regional centres. We would love you to consider joining our team.

What you’ll do (On‑the‑job training provided)

 

As a Psychologist or Specialist Psychologist, you will:

 

  • Conduct psychological assessments and interventions to people who offend and/or are on remand.
  • Provide expert consultation to staff on offender mental health and criminogenic risk assessment, including sexual and violent offending.
  • Preparing reports, advice and consultations, and maintaining concise documentation and case notes for offenders engaging in psychological services and programs.

 

  • Maintain accurate records using the Offender Integrated Management System (OIMS).

 

  • Work collaboratively to support behaviour change, risk reduction, and safe reintegration into the community.

 

 

What we’re looking for

 

  • A motivated psychologist committed to delivering ethical, effective services in a community corrections environment.

 

  • Experience or strong interest in community‑based offender assessment, criminogenic risk assessment, and behavioural intervention.

 

  • Knowledge of evidence‑based approaches to risk, mental health, cognitive impairment, and behaviour management

 

  • Strong skills in report writing, consultation, and interagency collaboration.

 

  • Ability to work flexibly and resiliently with individuals who have complex needs. Skilled in group facilitation, risk assessment, and collaborative, resilient service delivery.

 

Essential Requirements

 

  • Minimum four-year accredited qualification in psychology
  • Current full AHPRA registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
  • Current driver’s license and willingness to travel throughout NSW.
