Employment type - 1 x Ongoing & 1 x Temporary (12 months)

Salary - $74,302 - $130,530 pa plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

 

Your role

The Serious Offenders Assessment Unit is a team of psychologists who prepare assessment reports for the Serious Offenders Review Council, and provide advice in relation to the risk management, program pathway and case management of serious and high risk offenders.

This is a role which will allow you to develop skills in assessing recidivism and psychopathology through the use of risk assessment tools and pschometrics. You will also develop report writing skills and make recommendations for the management and reintegration of a complex client group.

The role is based at Long Bay Correctional Centre and provides state-wide services across Corrective Services NSW, which may require travelling to other Correctional Centres. Full time and part time roles with a minimum of three days per week will also be considered.

 

What you'll do

  • Preparing comprehensive psychological risk assessments of serious offenders;
  • Preparing reports in a timely manner for the Serious Offenders Review Council (SORC) and other Committees; 
  • Working as part of a small team of psychologists under the supervision of a senior psychologist in the provision of direct psychological services to adult offenders;
  • Providing expert and timely advice pertaining to the risk and intervention needs of serious and high risk offenders to stakeholders;
  • Providing advice in relation to offenders being considered for applications under the Crimes (High Risk Offenders) Act.
  • Attending professional development and networking opportunities, including training in the use of risk assessment tools and the annual CSNSW Psychology Conference.

 

What we're looking for

  • Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary correctional principles related to psychological assessments and interventions, including criminogenic risk assessment and treatment for offending.
  • Demonstrated expertise in assessment and treatment in correctional psychology including mental health issues, cognitive impairment, personality and behaviour management
  • A self-driven and organised psycologist who can independently balance competing priorities and prepare written reports to meet deadlines
  • A team player who is willing to support the demands of a small team and can contribute to a positive work culture and environment

 

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum four-year accredited qualification in psychology with current provisional or full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
  • Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel throughout NSW.
