Your role

 

We are looking for an Aboriginal Administration Officer to join the Aboriginal Strategic Coordination Unit (ASCU). This position will play a pivotal role in providing administration and support services to facilitate the operation of the unit, in its work in focusing on advancing Target 11 and the Priority Reforms of the Closing the Gap.

 

What you’ll do

 

  • Provide a range of administrative and support services to facilitate the effective operation of the unit.
  • Manage records, routine correspondence, and coordinate meetings and events to support team functions.
  • Collect, compile, and prepare documentation and correspondence in accordance with quality and organisational requirements to support information flow and decision-making.
  • Complete routine financial transactions and purchasing services, ensuring compliance with agency standards and procedures
  • Respond to inquiries, escalating and redirecting issues as necessary to ensure accurate information is provided.
  • Update and maintain records and databases, ensuring all information is accurate, securely stored, and easily accessible.
  • Develop and maintain respectful relationships with the Aboriginal community and key stakeholders to effectively deliver culturally sensitive support services.

 

 

What we’re looking for

 

  • NSW Working with Children Check clearance for paid employment.

 

In addition to the above essential requirement, the successful applicant will desirably possess

 

  • Strong administrative skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and accurately.
  • Attention to detail in records management and documentation preparation.
  • Experience in handling routine financial transactions and understanding compliance standards.
  • Excellent communication skills for responding to inquiries and interacting with the Aboriginal community in a culturally sensitive manner.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders to enhance service delivery.
  • Proficiency in using administrative systems and processes to ensure information accuracy and accessibility.
  • Capability to work under tight timeframes while maintaining high standards of work quality.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage competing deadlines

 

As an Identified role, this role is open only to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander persons, Australia’s First Nations people.

There are two alternatives to confirming your Aboriginality, one of which must be uploaded to be considered for the role as follows. Either will be accepted:

 

  • Confirmation of Aboriginality form

 

Or

 

  • Written confirmation from 2-3 Aboriginal organisations within the community in which you live/work, which addresses the three criteria listed below:
  • is of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, and
  • identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, and
  • is accepted as a such by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community.

 

Appointments are subject to reference checks. Some roles may also require the following checks/ clearances:

 

  • National Criminal History Record Check in accordance with the Disability Inclusion Act 2014
