$223,417 - $247,520 total remuneration payable

Your role

An exciting opportunity to lead the delivery of strategies, policy and programs to improve outcomes for Aboriginal children, young people and families.

 

What you’ll do

You will lead a diverse team working to improve outcomes for Aboriginal children, young people and families through the delivery of strategies, policy and programs aligned to NSW Government targets and DCJ objectives.  You will be responsible for working alongside Aboriginal peak organisations and community agencies, and acting as a source of cultural expertise to ensure the voices and cultural practices of Aboriginal people are represented in policy design and decision making.
 

You will also:

  • Drive the development and delivery of programs to improve outcomes for Aboriginal children, young people and families.
  • Build the capability of the team to manage and deliver complex programs of work within agreed timelines and budgets.
  • Deliver strategic advice on complex issues to ministers, the executive leadership team, key stakeholders and across DCJ on matters relating to improving outcomes for Aboriginal peoples.
  • Direct the division’s strategic and corporate planning, decision-making and implementation. 
  • Manage people, resources, work programs and budget to ensure appropriate program resourcing, high staff performance, and a positive culture and working environment. 
  • Lead change management initiatives through effective planning, coordination and delivery of all activities.
  • Oversee the provision of considered input and expert advice into key strategic and operational decisions.

 

What we’re looking for

  • Demonstrated experience in policy development and a strong track record in delivering positive outcomes that support Aboriginal peoples.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in working across sectors to effect positive change, particularly in relation to Aboriginal child safety and wellbeing. 
  • A commitment to improving outcomes for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Ability to effectively manage complex projects and programs. 

 

As an Identified role, this position is open only to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander persons. There are two alternatives to confirming your Aboriginality, one of which must be uploaded to be considered for the role as follows. Either will be accepted:
 

Confirmation of Aboriginality form or written confirmation from 2-3 Aboriginal organisations within the community in which you live/work, which addresses the three criteria listed below: 

  • is of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, and
  • identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, and
  • is accepted as a such by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community.
