Industrial Relations Manager

 

Location: Parramatta CBD and flexible work arrangements offered

Employment type: Ongoing, Full-time – 35 hours per week

Salary: Up to $168,130 a. plus superannuation and annual leave loading.

 

Your role

 

In our Employee Relations team, you'll be at the forefront of handling a wide range of issues—from providing expert advice on complex ER matters and negotiating with unions, to representing DCJ at employment tribunals.

 

As a key leader reporting to the Director, you'll guide a talented team, partnering with various DCJ business areas to navigate sensitive employee relations issues. Your expert advice and strategic solutions will directly contribute to the agency’s success, ensuring optimal outcomes in resolving employee relations matters.

 

What you’ll do

 

  • Lead initiatives to drive employee relations strategy, workplace reform, and workforce capability building.
  • Represent DCJ in industrial tribunals, safeguarding the organization’s compliance with policy and legislation.
  • Partner with HR teams to design and implement policies, ensuring seamless, client-focused HR services.
  • Provide expert advice on complex issues and foster positive relationships with employees and senior leaders to enhance engagement.
  • Manage industrial consultation frameworks, ensuring effective communication and collaboration across the organization.
  • Negotiate with unions to resolve disputes and achieve fair, practical employment conditions.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team, ensuring excellence in service delivery and continuous professional growth.

 

What we’re looking for
 

  • Qualifications in Industrial Relations, HR Management, Law or other related qualifications and extensive practical experience in industrial relations matters
  • Highly developed knowledge of employment legislation and ability to conduct legal research.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid understanding of the current Industrial Relations framework
  • Experience as an industrial relations advocate proven ability to negotiate on complex industrial relations matters.

While the Department of Communities and Justice offers a flexible or hybrid working arrangement some office work will be required and therefore to be considered for this role you would need to live in NSW or be relocating to NSW.
