Make a difference delivering frontline HR support across DCJ

 

Location: Parramatta
Employment type: Temporary up to 12 months opportunity, Full-time
Salary: Clerk 7/8, $113,574.00 to $125,720.00 plus employers’ contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

 

About the role

We’re looking for an experienced and people-focused HR Advisor to join the Business Partnering team at the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ).

 

In this dynamic frontline advisory role, you’ll work closely with leaders and employees across diverse business areas to provide expert advice and support on a wide range of workforce matters — including performance management, recovery at work plans, attendance and wellbeing, reasonable adjustments, workforce planning, change management, and staff engagement. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference while building strong partnerships across a large, purpose-driven team.

 

What you’ll do

As a key member of the HR Business Partnering team, you will:

  • Provide expert advice and guidance on a wide range of people matters, including performance, conduct, policy, and workforce planning.
  • Manage complex casework, ensuring timely and compliant outcomes while supporting best practice people management.
  • Build strong relationships with leaders and stakeholders to deliver proactive and solutions-focused HR support.
  • Contribute to key workforce initiatives and projects, supporting strategic priorities across DCJ.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across People to continuously improve our services and employee experience.

What we’re looking for

We’re seeking an experienced HR professional who is confident, collaborative, and solutions focused. You will bring:

  • Substantial experience delivering HR advice and managing complex casework in a large or complex organisation.
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation (Government Sector Act 2013 and Government Section Regulations/Rules 2014), government policies, and HR best practice.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and work independently.
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to building a positive, inclusive workplace culture.
