  • Principal location – Parramatta - Flexible working arrangements maybe negotiated.
  • Employment type – Ongoing and Temporary (2 year) position available – Full time (35 hours)
  • Note for the Temporary Role: The temporary role has a more specialised focus and will involve working directly with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities to address housing needs in a culturally sensitive and inclusive manner.
  • Salary – Legal Officer – Grade 6, Base Salary ($161,034 – $164,426), plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

 

Your role

 

The Property Transactions (Homes NSW) team within DCJ Legal supports the work of Homes NSW, with a specific focus on Housing Portfolio, the Aboriginal Housing Office, and the Teachers Housing Authority.   The work of the team is interesting, diverse and fundamental to ensuring the ongoing protection and enhancement of essential and high value government housing assets.

 

What you’ll do

 

Conduct complex legal matters and supervise the conduct of junior solicitors and paralegal staff to ensure the provision of high quality, cost effective and client focussed legal services which contribute to the achievement of the goals of the Department and particularly in the Homes NSW portfolio.

 

You will also need to: 

  • Provide the highest level of legal services, advocacy and advice.
  • Supervise legal matters in accordance with relevant policies, procedures, guidelines in order to ensure high client service standards and satisfaction while developing staff and providing professional direction to ensure the delivery of quality legal services by staff within the team.
  • Develop and review complex and sensitive legal documents including legal records, correspondence and government reports.
  • Contribute to the development, review and implementation of complex legislation and policies and practice standards and provide ongoing monitoring and advice.

 

What we’re looking for

 

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in areas of law relevant to Homes NSW, including property and construction law.
  • An experienced legal practitioner
