Your role

 

As a Project Engineer within the Housing Portfolio team, you will be responsible for managing complex engineering upgrade works requiring technical input and providing professional advice and problem-solving support on a range of technical matters across Homes NSW property portfolio and infrastructure, including sensitive and contentious matters requiring an urgent response.

 

What you’ll do

 

The role, as a Project Engineer, will assist specialist engineers within the team in reviewing reports related to engineering matters, and also provide required support to the upgrade team in managing specific engineering upgrade components, inspections and professional services projects and provide input to the Principal Engineer and specialist engineers as required.

You will also be responsible for managing the Engineering projects, CHP structural repairs submission, and support the DPAS Program activities.

 

What we’re looking for

 

  • Coordinate and assist in providing specialist and technical engineering advice (structural, civil or hydraulics) for new and existing assets as needed to internal and external stakeholders, make recommendations, and provide commentary on external or internally developed designs with project managers and stakeholders.
  • Project manage the tasks and activities as directed, relating to technically challenging and complex engineering and upgrade projects from concept to completion, including coordination with other professionals required on the projects/programs.
  • Collaborate and work with the Principal Engineer and the team in the effective and efficient implementation of general upgrade works.
  • Analyse, advise, review and determine risks and mitigations across all upgrade programs and project work, to avoid unnecessary delays in program quality, cost and timelines from a project perspective.
  • Identify, determine, plan and implement - in collaboration with the Capital Works team - effective project management, contract management and engineering principles and practices across the upgrade programs to enhance outcomes and business goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure clarity in engineering specifications, standards and requirements and ensure expectations are effectively and efficiently captured in relation to engineering upgrade activities.
  • Advise, evaluate and share industry best practices learned externally and through program evaluation with individuals and teams where appropriate to ensure continuous improvement in processes, procedures and activities.
  • Track and report key functional metrics and status updates on assigned engineering, upgrade and professional services projects/programs, and update corporate systems in a timely manner for accurate reporting.
  • Manage all assigned projects efficiently adhering to the established governance, risk management and quality assurance processes.

 

Essential requirements
 

  • Qualifications in Civil/Structural Engineering field(s).
  • Demonstrated engineering experience in residential property environment.
