Salary: Clerk Grade 11/12 ($145,378 - $168,130 pa), plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

 

Your role

 

The Senior Manager leads the Infrastructure Design and Planning team at the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ). It plays a critical role in the successful delivery of infrastructure and construction programs focusing on the design of office accommodation across DCJ. This role ensures that the design aspect of infrastructure projects are effectively planned, designed, and implemented in alignment with broader organisational goals.

 

What you’ll do

 

As part of the Infrastructure Design and Planning Team within Infrastructure and Assets, as the Senior Manager oversees a team responsible for the design of infrastructure projects, from strategic planning including the development of design standards to project work, delivering in-house design work and advisory support. Day-to-day, the role involves understanding the pipeline of work to manage team resourcing and milestones whilst ensuring alignment with organisational goals. The role requires site visits, team leadership, reviewing the teams design work to ensure consistency and pushing for continuous improvement, managing contracts and engaging external providers such as architects and subconsultants, identifying projects risks, and ensuring all approvals are sought to keep objectives on track.  The Senior Manager will often collaborate with their immediate Capital Planning and Investment team including planning and leasing and security to achieve their goals, but also support and collaborate more widely across DCJ and their stakeholders.  

 

The Infrastructure Design and Planning team operates within a dynamic and collaborative environment. The team is made up of 11 skilled professionals, primarily interior designers and architects that work in a supportive environment that values innovation, quality, and purpose-driven outcomes. The team operates flexibly in the Parramatta office or on site, fostering a strong, inclusive culture.

 

What we’re looking for

 

The ideal candidate will need to be able to work in a dynamic operating environment with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities to support outcomes. Good time management, agility and prioritisation skills are required in addition to the appropriate architectural and/or design qualifications with a minimum of 10 years’ experience.
