Senior Manager – Capital Business Cases
Location: Parramatta ( options for Hybrid Office & Work from Home)
Employment type: Ongoing Full-Time
Salary: Clerk Grade 11/12 $145,378 to $168,130 pa, plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading
Your role
Your role as Senior Manager is to lead the development of strategic optioning through to detailed investment documentation for major capital investment. You will lead the team to creatively approach problems and explore value for money interventions that best support DCJ services.
What you’ll do
Your role will focus on the following key responsibilities:
- Lead the development of the strategic justification for investment (or case for change)
- Lead the development of options for non-asset and asset interventions
- Lead the assessment of all options and effectively communicate the outcomes in a compelling way that supports executive decisions
- Lead the development of detailed investment documentation including Business Cases, managing multiple technical inputs
- Collaborate with other DCJ divisions on their service needs, including Disability Policy, Systems Reform, Court Services and frontline service divisions (Housing, Child Protection and Youth Justice).
- Support your team members to develop in collaboration, effective communication, complex problem solving and program management.

The Capital Business Cases (CBC) team is a vibrant, and enthusiastic team dispersed across NSW. The key objectives of the Capital Business Cases team are to:
- Support DCJ Executive and Ministerial decisions on major capital investment by assessing the strategic merit of proposed interventions.
- Inform decisions by NSW Treasury and the Expenditure Review Committee on major capital investment into DCJ major infrastructure projects by developing robust, evidence-based business cases.
- Guide the NSW Government on prioritising and optimising DCJ to support service delivery, by articulating a clear case for change and investment roadmaps.
- Provide advice, analysis, insights, and evidence that support organisational objectives and needs.
What we’re looking for
As Senior Manager, you are a dynamic, agile team leader who promotes critical thinking and collaborative problem solving to support NSW Government investment decisions. You will ideally hold knowledge and experience of NSW Government processes, in particular governance and investment decision processes (e.g. ERC and Cabinet Submission) and experience in complex strategy and planning work.
