We’re seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Officer to lead the development and delivery of economic analysis and evaluation projects that shape strategic investment and policy decisions.

 

About the role

 

As the Senior Project Officer – Economic Evaluation, you will manage and coordinate economic evaluations that support funding decisions and program design.

 

You’ll lead the development of business cases, perform ex-ante cost-benefit analyses for Treasury submissions, and support ex-post evaluations to determine Benefit Cost Ratios.

 

Your work will be central to assessing program feasibility, value for money, and long-term impact.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and implementing economic evaluation frameworks.
  • Conducting financial and strategic analysis to support funding proposals including conducting rapid ex-ante Cost Benefit Analysis.
  • Manage evaluations across grant-funded programs and disaster recovery initiatives.
  • Building and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships to ensure evaluation requirements are met.
  • Ensuring compliance with governance and quality standards across all evaluation activities.
  • Providing expert advice on evaluation planning and delivery across Recovery Agencies.

 

About You

You’re an experienced economist or analyst with a strong understanding of government evaluation frameworks and a passion for evidence-based decision-making.

You bring experience in economic evaluation, cost-benefit analysis, and financial modelling, along with the ability to communicate complex insights clearly and write compelling business cases.

 

Essential Requirements 

Qualifications in evaluations, economics, resource economics or similar discipline and/or equivalent experience.
