Senior Project Officer – Executive Office

About Role

An amazing opportunity is available within the Aboriginal Housing Office to work in the Executive Office. The role includes the coordination of  a range of projects, in line with the directorate’s responsibilities, which improve AHO service delivery and operations and contribute to better outcomes for individuals, families, groups and communities.

 

What you’ll do

You’ll work in a high-performing team that works across all AHO teams.

You will build strong relationships and work in partnership with other key government agencies and various internal and external stakeholders. It’s an interesting and diverse role providing support and exposure to many different areas of the AHO.

 

You will also:

  • Managing the executive inbox and quality assuring briefing notes to the CE of the Aboriginal Housing Office, CEO of Homes NSW, and the Minister
  • Prepare a range of project-related documents for key stakeholders as required, including briefing notes, status updates, reports, budgets, and discussion papers to manage the flow of information.
  • Quality access documents and reports, this including editing and redrafting.
  • Assist with the design, implement and coordination of comprehensive projects that deliver effective business unit outcomes and meet client service delivery needs by using project management methodologies and processes to ensure consistent high-quality outcomes.
  • Deliver on multifaceted projects and processes within agreed upon deadlines and quality standards.
  • Provide proactive and evidence-based advice and reports to the business unit leader, Director and/or the Chief Executive to ensure matters that impact business unit current business and future decision-making are considered.
  • Liaise and work across AHO and DPE Divisions and non-government stakeholders to ensure effective interface between program development, planning, service design and policy implementation.
  • Provide advice and support to project team members on undertaking tasks and implementing project plans as required to support and facilitate effective project management and implementation.
  • Seek out and actively manage key internal and external stakeholder relationships based on open and regular discussions and feedback, to ensure effective interface between program development, planning, service design and policy implementation

 

What we’re looking for

  • Experience in Executive Office functions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare high-level correspondence and reports.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders, organisations, communities, and people
  • Experience working with the Office suite, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated experience with briefs coordination, submissions, answering incoming phone calls for the general enquiries line as well as supporting the Board members.
  • Experience engaging, collaborating and co-designing housing solutions for Aboriginal communities, including Aboriginal Regional Alliances and Stolen Generation Organisations.
  • Passion and drive to improve housing outcomes in Aboriginal communities.

The AHO is a statutory authority, established under the Aboriginal Housing Act 1998 (NSW) and plans, administers, and expands the policies, program, and asset base for Aboriginal housing in NSW. 

The AHO works in partnership with Aboriginal Community Housing Providers (ACHP) and Aboriginal communities in delivering housing program and developing housing policy and standards.
