Senior Project Officer
Location - Parramatta (hybrid WFH or other arrangements or locations for non-Sydney based applicants may be considered by negotiation with the successful applicant(s))
Employment type – 3x Ongoing full-time roles
Salary - $125,693.00 pa - $138,510.00 pa, plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading
This is a targeted recruitment. Your role
We have an opportunity for three Senior Project Officers to be part of the Child Protection Assessment Branch, Child and Family in System Reform Division.
The role(s) will be required to work in partnership with Aboriginal people and communities, interagency partners and community stakeholders to review, redesign and support implementation of new child protection assessment and decision-making frameworks, policies, procedures and assessment tools used in child protection by DCJ.
The role also includes supporting the use of current assessment frameworks and tools used by DCJ while the redesign work is occurring.
Minimum physical attendance (as negotiated) at Parramatta (and other locations as required) is a pre-requisite. *Workplace adjustments for accessibility can be accommodated.
Role may also involve travel within NSW.
What you’ll do
As a Senior Project Officer you will:
- Work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders, including the coordination, facilitation and participation in workshops and working groups.
- Undertake community engagement and consultation in partnership with stakeholders including presentations, consultation and reporting to stakeholders on project progress, aims and objectives.
- Prepare discussion papers, reports and briefing notes on progress on projects seeking stakeholder and executive feedback and approval.
- Develop frameworks, policy or procedural guidelines, and assessment approaches for application in child protection settings.
- Develop implementation resources and training packages to support project implementation.
- Work independently and as part of a team.
- Provide advice on current assessment practice through district support and initiatives.
The Child Protection Assessment Branch is responsible for a suite of child protection assessment policies, procedure and assessment frameworks across the child protection safety and wellbeing system.
The team is responsible for the design, development and implementation of procedures, assessment frameworks and tools for statutory child protection and out of home care in DCJ.

What we’re looking for
In addition to the essential requirements listed in the role description, the ideal candidates will have:
- Tertiary education qualifications relevant to the role and /or equivalent experience
- Experience in or a working knowledge of child protection in New South Wales
- Experience in large scale program re-design, development and implementation of child protection service delivery
- Experience in working collaboratively with Aboriginal, Culturally and Linguistically diverse, interagency and community stakeholders to deliver effective community service programs including the ability to establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of a diverse team
- Experience in project management
- Sound research and analysis skills to support evidence-based decisions
- Sound computer and systems competency
Highly desirable
- Experience working in a multi-agency, diverse team to achieve shared outcomes
