Your role

The Senior Project Officer – Risk and Insurance supports and coordinates the oversight and administration of the NSW Land and Housing Corporation's annual insurance program and provides enterprise-level risk management advice and support across Homes NSW.

The role contributes to effective insurance procurement and oversight, claims governance, and the implementation of risk management practices at the enterprise, business unit, and key initiative levels, aligned with NSW Government policy, legislative requirements, and organisational objectives.

Insurance and claims management form one component of a broader risk role focused on strengthening governance, risk maturity and decision-making across Homes NSW.

What you’ll do

As part of this role, you will support the delivery of risk and insurance activities across Homes NSW to strengthen governance, claims management and organisational risk capability.

  • Coordinate the annual insurance program, ensuring compliance with NSW Government procurement, contractual and policy requirements.
  • Provide oversight of insurance claims management arrangements delivered by outsourced specialist service providers, ensuring appropriate governance, escalation and reporting.
  • Support the management of higher-risk or complex matters, including where claims progress to litigation managed through approved legal and specialist service provider panels.
  • Provide risk management advice to identify, assess and manage risks impacting organisational objectives at enterprise, divisional and key initiative levels.
  • Support the continuous improvement of risk management practices aligned with the corporate risk management framework and NSW Government requirements.
  • Monitor insurance coverage, organisational risk exposures and claims trends, and prepare highquality reports, dashboards and executive briefings.
  • Contribute to the development and review of risk and insurance policies, guidance and frameworks through research, analysis and benchmarking.
  • Coordinate risk and insurancerelated projects, including reviews and improvement initiatives, to deliver outcomes within scope, time and budget.
  • Build effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and external service providers to support responsive, informed and consistent risk and insurance outcomes.

What we’re looking for

  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating corporate insurance programs and overseeing insurance claims processes within a large, complex or government organisation, including working with outsourced insurance and claims service providers.
  • Sound working knowledge of insurance principles and enterprise risk management practices, including risk identification, assessment and treatment within an established governance framework.
  • Demonstrated experience providing risk management advice across enterprise, business unit and project environments, supporting senior stakeholders and informed decisionmaking.
  • Experience applying procurement, compliance and contract management requirements, preferably within the NSW public sector or a similarly regulated environment.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, including the ability to use data and information systems to analyse claims and risk trends and to prepare clear, highquality reports and executive briefings.
