Who we are

The Major Housing Projects team is part of Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) Legal Team. Major Housing Projects works with clients in Homes NSW to provide safe and secure homes for those in need in NSW. We primarily work on large-scale property development projects for new residential housing and urban renewals, with a focus on delivering new social & affordable housing in vibrant communities.

Your role

The Major Housing Projects legal team is currently recruiting a Senior Solicitor on an ongoing, full-time basis.  As a Senior Solicitor, you will play a pivotal role in realising ambitious project objectives (for example, the urban renewals at Telopea and Midtown Macquarie Park), delivering on Premier’s Priorities and implementing Ministerial policies.

It is a fabulous time to join our team given our central role in implementing the Building Homes for NSW Program – the NSW Government’s $6.6 billion investment in social and affordable housing.

What you’ll do

As a Senior Solicitor, you will be part of a small and dynamic legal team which drives a range of major housing projects in property development, commercial and property law. You will support the Director and Principal Solicitors and partner with our clients in Homes NSW using legal expertise in commercial, real property, finance and property development fields.

You'll work as part of a team that is genuinely passionate about the amazing projects we deliver. You'll find a fast-paced, collegiate environment where everyone is always happy to help and working together towards the same goal. The role will be split between office and hybrid flexible working arrangements.

What we’re looking for

To be successful in this role, you will have a strong property and commercial law background, have a pragmatic approach to issues, be solutions-focussed and be comfortable advising on commercial structures, risk allocation and management, property development, leasing and market processes. Direct experience in Project Delivery Agreements is highly desirable.

You will have exceptional stakeholder management skills and be confident advising a diverse stakeholder group at all levels. You will have experience in providing legal support for complex, high value property transactions (preferably residential developments) with a proven track record of success.

You will be a mid-level lawyer (minimum 5 years PQE) and have demonstrated expertise and experience in providing comprehensive legal advice with a strong emphasis on commerciality. Communication skills are your strength, as are your stakeholder management skills to engage confidently with and build strategic relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

This is an excellent opportunity for a legal professional to join a dedicated and highly regarded team and be a key contributor in supporting the delivery of outcomes for the people of NSW.
