  • Legal Officer VI, base salary ($154,840 - $158,102), plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

 

Your role

 

The Inquests, Inquiries and Representation team assists the Court in significant and high-profile coronial inquests and inquiries, represents the Department in inquiries generally, and provides representation to witnesses appearing before investigatory bodies such as the Independent Commission Against Corruption and the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission.

 

What you’ll do

 

You will act as Solicitor Advocate in a variety of matters including:

 

  • acting as counsel assisting in coronial inquests and inquiries
  • representing the Department in courts, tribunals and commissions of inquiry.
  • conducting fraud prosecutions; and
  • representing witnesses before the Independent Commission Against Corruption and the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission.

 

What we’re looking for

 

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in the relevant area/s of law impacting on the Department of Communities and Justice.
  • Experience as a solicitor advocate.

 

Essential requirements

  • Legal Qualifications and with a current unrestricted NSW practising certificate.
  • Current and valid Working with Children Check Clearance.
  • Ability to undertake travel for regional court and other commitments subject to the application of any discrimination legislation (including in respect of carer’s responsibilities).

 

Appointments are subject to reference checks. Some roles may also require the following checks/ clearances:

 

  • National Criminal History Record Check in accordance with the Disability Inclusion Act 2014
  • Working with Children Check clearance in accordance with the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012
