About Us

 

The Supreme Court is the highest court in New South Wales and hears civil, criminal and appellate matters.  The Supreme Court is responsible for the administration of justice in New South Wales.

 

About the Role

 

Reporting to the Associate to the Chief Justice on a day-to-day basis, this role will provide administrative support including:

 

  • Management of correspondence (both physical and digital).
  • Preparation of routine correspondence.
  • Answering telephone calls.
  • Assisting with organising and supporting functions such as ceremonial sittings, monthly judicial lunches and other related judicial functions. 

 

As required, the role will also assist in the Registry and will:

 

  • Deal directly with court users at the Registry counter.
  • Handle complex enquiries.
  • Provide procedural assistance to court users and staff.
  • Process court documents.
  • Prepare reports and correspondence.

 

To be successful in this role you will need to be able to move from one role to the other seamlessly ensuring all requirements and expectations are met.

 

Essential requirements

 

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, including spelling, punctuation and grammar.
  • Excellent judgment in relation to tact and discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
  • High level time management skills with the ability to multitask and meet changing deadlines.
  • Willingness to attend chambers each weekday.
  • Demonstrated proficient and accurate computer skills with a willingness to learn new software such as JusticeLink and EventsAir, to assist in the management of tasks.
  • Previous experience within a professional environment.
  • Work outside of standard hours will be required, inclusive of evening functions.
