Court Overview

 

The Land and Environment Court of NSW is a specialist court for environmental and planning issues. It has both civil and criminal jurisdiction, established by the Land and Environment Court Act 1979. The Court includes 7 Judges and 10 Commissioners, plus Acting Commissioners.

 

Your role

 

 The Commissioner Support Officer provides administrative, clerical and secretarial support services to the Commissioners and Registrars of the Land and Environment Court and assists in the provision of the general administrative support services in the registry.   

 

What you’ll do

 

  • Audiotyping and word processing: Judgments, decisions, orders, reports, and correspondence, including proofreading.
  • Clerical, administrative, and secretarial support: For Commissioners and Registrars, including document preparation, ordering transcripts, and liaising with parties.
  • Registry clerical duties: Filing, data entry, answering phone enquiries, and assisting at the counter.
  • Payment and travel arrangements: Preparing payment vouchers and booking flights for Commissioners and Registrars.
  • Data entry and record management: Using computer systems for case management, updating files, and publishing judgments.
  • Record maintenance: Filing and maintaining post-judicial process records.
  • Client services: Liaising with parties and responding to case enquiries.
  • Court officer duties: Handling short matters, court mentions, and assisting with delivering judgments.

 

 

What we’re looking for

 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for liaising with stakeholders and handling enquiries.
  • Fast and accurate typing, with strong proofreading abilities.
  • Organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
