- Ongoing, full-time role – 35 hrs/week
- Sydney CBD/Parramatta – flexible working arrangements
- Clerk Grade 11/12; salary relative to experience ($139,787- $161,663) plus superannuation + annual leave loading
About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to spearhead the Financial Planning & Performance team and function. Reporting to the Director, Corporate Finance, your role will be to provide expert advice to the agency and lead your team to deliver key financial strategies and the framework that meets financial objectives as aligned to government requirements and best practice.
Key responsibilities of this role include (but are not limited to):
- Lead the Agency Finance Strategy and maintain a framework of financial policies, procedures and guidelines that embeds appropriate governance and enables divisions to maximise returns on investments.
- Provide strategic financial advice to decision makers regarding divisional and project finance, budgets, forecasts and reporting to enable accurate financial planning and project delivery outcomes.
- Execute priority matters related to the budgeting process, inflight business cases, and performance reporting to the executive committee or senior executives.
- Ensure stakeholders receive accurate advice and support to complete the annual budget planning process, forecasts and periodic reporting to meet strategic objectives and timelines.
- Take a risk management approach in leading the function to mitigate risk and work collaboratively with the Audit and Risk Committee to ensure governance.
- Liaise with senior executives and NSW Treasury representatives to inform emerging issues, review performance and labour reports.
What we’re looking for
- Mandatory professional accounting qualifications (e.g. CA, CPA, or equivalent).
- Ideal experience working within NSW Government and knowledge on NSW Treasury processes and systems.
- Solid track record of leading and developing teams and preparing Board/ARC level papers.
- Proven experience in financial planning & analysis, finance business partnering, business case preparation, and performance reporting.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience in building financial models.
- Proficiency in utilising business intelligence tools for financial reporting (e.g. Power BI / Calumo)
