Expressions of interest are being sought from current NSW Public Sector employees (ongoing and temporary staff) who wish to be considered for this temporary employment opportunity.

  • Temporary full-time vacancy until 27th February 2026. 35 hours per week.
  • Location: Multiple from the following: Sydney CBD, Parramatta, Wollongong, Gosford or Newcastle
  • Flexible and hybrid working options available.
  • Clerk Grade: Level 7/8. Base salary $110,266 pa to $122,058 p.a. plus superannuation and annual leave loading.

About the team

The Public Guardian is a division of NSW Trustee and Guardian. The Public Guardian can be appointed by a court or tribunal to make health and lifestyle decisions for people who are unable to on their own, or with support. These include decisions such as where a person might live, their medical and dental treatment, health care, and other services. It also provides information and support to private and enduring guardians, service providers and the wider community.

About the role

The Policy and Project Officer is in the Practice and Strategy team which provides systemic advocacy, stakeholder engagement and support both customers and employees in their practice of guardianship

The Project and Policy Officer conducts research, manages projects and develops policy for the Public Guardian Division. The role supports the Assistant Public Guardian (Practice, and Strategy), and the Practice Manager in preparing and presenting project updates and outcomes, policy revisions and systemic advocacy related work.

About you

  • Experience in policy development including the ability to manage multiple projects with competing timeframes.
  • Highly organised and able to deliver on competing demands and deadlines.
  • Ability to understand intersecting service systems and work with key stakeholders to identify and address policy gaps.
  • Possess superior communication and analysis skills and hold a strong commitment to upholding the rights of people with disability that will be reflected in your work. 
  • Experience in project management, research and preparation of reports and advice.
  • Has key knowledge of legislation and policy relevant to the Department, government and our agency functions.
