  • Location: Sydney CBD. Flexible and hybrid working options available.
  • Legal Officer Grade V: Level. Base salary $ 149,906 p.a. to $ 152,845 p.a. plus superannuation and annual leave loading.

The Legal and Professional Services division provides expert legal, taxation, financial planning, and genealogy services to customers across the entire agency.

 

 

About the role

Provide high-level legal services and advice, research and support in complex areas of law and policy issues that delivers optimum outcomes to NSW Trustee and Guardian and its customers in the resolution of legal matters.  Lead a specialist practice group and provide professional supervision and direction to create a cohesive and skilled team that delivers high quality efficient and cost-effective legal services.

About you

 

As a Senior Solicitor, you will bring a wealth of developed legal skills and experience, enabling you to provide expert advice and representation in legal matters

primarily in the areas of succession, trust and agency law. You will have the ability to conduct litigation before Courts and Tribunals and handle highly complex, unusual, contentious, and sensitive legal and administrative matters.

 

You will need to be able to lead a specialist practice group and develop strategic plans to ensure the delivery of high-quality legal services and achieve departmental objectives. You will be able to manage work assignments and supervision of solicitors to maintain the highest standards of legal practice. You will be able to manage operational performance and the development of staff capability to ensure effective service delivery that supports the organisation's mission.

Essential Requirements  

  • Completion of a law degree from an accredited law school or completion of the Legal Practitioners Admission Board Diploma in law Course.
  • Admitted as legal practitioner in NSW and have a current NSW practicing certificate.
  • Developed legal skills and experience which enable provision of advice and representation in succession, trust and agency law

 

Desirable Requirements

  • Specialist accreditation in wills and estates or completion of Master of Law majoring in wills and estates.
